SMAiCOM® – SMall Animal imaging COMputer – is a laboratory device for completely non-invasive, automated image analysis in small laboratory animal studies. Animal studies are a regulatory requirement in drug development and approval. SMAiCOM® is a patented, automated image analysis technology for the efficient recording of parameters and generation of reports in such studies. It is based on IP from own research and was previously referred to as “Animal imaging Cage”.

Body temperature is an important indicator of local or systemic inflammation, sensed by SMAiCOM® thermo cameras. The thermal images provide data about body temperature, and about 3D activity of the animals, in short- or long-term monitoring. Hence, SMAiCOM® is applicable in pathophysiological, immunological or behavioral studies connected with changes in body temperature and/or physical activity.
